Aims and activities

  Professional further agricutural education and
training for farmers to achieve their economic goals;
  maintain agricultural enterprises in southern Carinthia;
  to improve professional competence in Slovenian language;
  empower southern Carinthian farmers to cross
border cooperation with farmers in Slovenia;
  organising further training and education classes,
seminars and language courses, excursions, etc;
  consciousness-raising for values in the rural area,
its inhabitants, agriculture and forestry;
  cross border cooperation with agricultural associations
and institutions in neighboring regions;
  to inspire interest for farmer families and country life.

Interreg project III A:
Cooperation in further agricultural education

  South Carinthian Farmer Educational Association – KIS
regards multilingualism as an additional value and an economic
resource for the southern Carinthian region, which is hardly recognized and employed.
KIS as an educational association with its language and
professional competence is predestined to bring forward its knowledge and contacts to cross border cooperation.
  The project “Cooperation in Further Agricultural Education”, submitted by the “Rural Educational Institute – Ländliches Fortbildungsinstitut LFI”, and co-financed by the EU and the government of Carinthia has been successfully realized in collaboration with KIS.
  During the project period a number of sustainable
partnerships with institutions in Slovenia have been created.
Up to 3,000 persons have taken part in the cross border activities and trainings of the South Carinthian farmer educational association – KIS.

Realized activities

  Project week „Youth without borders“ in Carinthia focusing on the theme „Farmers in the EU“ in cooperation with the bilingual commercial school in Klagenfurt/Celovec. 50 pupils from Carinthia, Slovenia, Italy and Croatia took part.
  Farmers from Carinthia regularly take part in the traditional awarding of “Deliciousness’ from Slovenian farms” in Slovenia.
  Participation in the organisation of cross border tasting seminars.
  Cooperation at the seminar “e-learning on farms”.
  Cooperation at the edition of the bilingual excursion guide “Agrictultural enterprises in Carinthia and Slovenia best practise on farm. Guide for excursions”.
  Organisation of professional cross border excursions.
  Support of cross border connections between farmers from Carinthia and Slovenia.
  Creation of direct contacts, exchange of experiences and opinions as a contribution to downsize prejudices.

The South Carinthian farmer educational association – KIS
is a competent partner for direct contacts and cross border
cooperation with Slovenia regarding agriculture, forestry
and rural development.
